If your talking about cutting circular slices off the rod, a scroll saw is probably not the tool to use. If you have one a fine toothed miter saw/box is probably a better choice. If not a hacksaw should work also if your careful to keep it square. Either should give you uniform thicknesses (per slice) than a scroll saw.
