  • Which saw to buy?  Consider this...

This is from a want ad in our local paper. It says a lot about scroll saws. 20' RBI Hawk with 10 hrs. of use. $950.00 Dremel Scroll Saw with stand; $200.00.

There are some really great high-end machines such as the RBI's and Hegner's, then you drop down to the Dewalt, and after that you get to the rest. The 'rest' may be good enough, but if you're going to pay $300 for a mediocre saw, you might want to spend another $100 to get a good one

Amen - My first saw was a Ryobi thought it was kind of cool until I got a DeWalt. Used the DeWalt for a couple years then broke down and got an RBI about 4 years ago and couldn't be happier. Is the RBI worth the extra money? Depends on how much you plan on using it I guess, I feel it was, but that's me.

Thanks for the info Denny. When I cut acrylic I always use a skip tooth blade at a slower speed. I just did not realize that the epoxy would cut the same way as acrylic so I followed the materials list in the article.

OK folks, picture. I finally figured out how to upload a picture. Here is one each of my version of the oak and cherry boxes. Note the axle peg holding the top in place but allowing it to move.
