  • how to remove brushes from a DeWalt 788 scrollsaw?

The DeWalt users manual says I should keep my brushes clean. I removed the brush inspection caps. The manual says I should then withdraw the brush assembly. I see nothing to withdraw. There is nothing that moves.

Can anybody explain to me how to get the brushes out?

    Thanks,
    Katie

Need to use a small screwdriver, the silver piece you see is spring loaded to stay in place. Make sure you pay attention to the way the brushes are worn so you can reinstall them the same way.

Katie, does your saw run o.k? If it is running well I wouldnt mess with the brushes. They will last for years. You could just blow them out if you have a compressor. Don't fix it if it isn't broke.

I agree with Mick, my dewalt is almost 13 years old and I've never taken the brush caps off.

Another one with an older DW788. It is over 8 years old, has hundreds of hours of use and the brushes have never been touched. Don't mess.
