Signing projects

Wondering how folks sign their work...sharpie, burn it, carve it, etc.? I read somewhere about someone using a custom stamp. I engraved the first couple with my Dremel, but not sure I like that method.

I don't get too creative. My signature is simply my initials and the year, usually written with a sharpie. Sometimes, depending on the wood, I use a paint pen or even a very tiny artist brush.

I apply one coat of finish to my project. I sign it with a Parker Roller Ball pen. I sign "Mick" with the year under. Then apply more coats of finish. Signing bare wood, it tends to bleed. I sign on the front unless it is a portrait of a person, then I sign the back.

I have found that a marker can be absorbed intot he wood and it looks really bad. I like Mr. Walker use a roller pen and it does well. Like the others I to don't get very elabrate with the signature. Short and sweet...... and always the year.... tiime is fleeting...

I usually sign with pen and then varnish over it.... just name and year

Used an art pen, tip destroyed after about 60 pieces, signature, month & year, wood, location, and number. Seemed to increase sales about 30%.

I put my initials and the year on the back with a sharpie. If the project is large enough I attach a scaled down version of my business card too. That is attached with M-77 spray.

I incize my logo, (that I've had since 1989) on the back with profile specific carving tools...It takes all of a minute.

Signing Projects

If you look in the lower right at the star, I put my initials in the star. I also have a logo on a sticky I place on the bottom of my schwibbogens.

I always woodburn my name (perk) with the year on each piece. Some, I put a label on the back with Scrollsaw Artist- phone # along with name. You can do just about whatever you want. I prefer to have it permanent.
