What is the backing that most use for scrooled pictures. Thank's Cleancut.

Hi Cleancut, I use card stock for all my scrolled projects. Some, probably most use
1/8 inch BB and paint it the color they choose.

CPE EZ Felt (a stiff felt).
Micahels used to sell it but I cannot find it on their website. They still show projects using it.

a google search shows several places still sell it.

Depends on the project and subject matter. I use felt, plywood or luan.

It depends on the project. I have scrapbooking paper for several projects because you can get some with very interesting effects.
But for real contrast I like black felt.

I use Black felt for most of my projects and I have used red felt also. (I buy them at AC Moore) I have tried to spray paint a piece of thick cardboard but no matter how careful I was, the cardboard "bent" and it leaves a line.

I've used 1/8" BB, 1/4" MDF and I've also used the 1/8" backing off the back of like entertainment centers or book cases.

I mat a lot of my pics so I often have small pieces of mat board available to use as a backing. I have also used heavy weight construction paper and painted BB.

I went to a cabinet shop, and got scrap pieces of countertop laminate, cut them on the table saw and used them as backing..Lots of different colors ! Works great !

Just another way to back a piece of scrollwork is with a sheet of felt or foam. I used to get the sheets of felt at Michaels, but, now, I can only find the sheets of foam. It works real nice too, so keeps me in business. I don't need anything heavy like wood, so thats why I use just the foam. Good Luck

I've seen some mounted on painted canvas for a textured look. You can usually get the canvas at AC Moore or Michael's for 50% off.

I use almost all of the above methods for various things.
My preferred backing is 3mm MDF. I either paint it Black or glue coloured felt to it.
I also use 3mm luan ply sometimes and stain it a contrasting colour to the cutting.
