  • Smilies--how do you???

It was ask on another thread, thought it might not be answered there, so how do you put the smiley at the end of your sentence or in the middle or where ever. Mine usually end up at the beginnig of the topic and I would like it somewhere in the thought I'm writing. So there are two of us at least that would really like to know.
    Thanks

Way - Way too long of a reply

Allow me to stick my oar in this discussion:

1st, when you are logged into this forum, near the top of most of this sites web pages, is a menu bar. One of the menu selections is User CP (control panel). When the first page of the Control panel opens, on the left side select Edit Options. Then Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for a box that selects the editing options for your messages. Be sure you have selected Enhanced Interface-Full WYISWYG Editing. (BTW, WYISWYG means What You See Is What Your Get.) I think this is the default.

2nd, when you post a thread, message, reply or private message, you should call up the WYSIWYG edit screen for message editing. There should appear several major blocks. The first is the Reply / Thread Block which is the enhanced edit screen. This edit screen contains sub-blocks a title block, message / edit block, and a Post Icons block. The post Icon block is for adding an Icon for the entire message. It will appear with the Title of the message. Further down, is a block for Additional Options. Under sub-block Miscellaneous Options, be sure Automatically parse links in text is checked, and Disable smiles in text is unchecked.

3rd: Now back to the edit message block, the beige window where you type in your message. The beige message window has across the top two icon bars. On the top icon bar, between the font size and the scissors, is a small smiley face icon plus a mini down arrow icon. Left click your mouse once on the mini down arrow, and a menu selection of possible icons to choose from will appear.

(GEEK SPEAK: the icons are called emoticons, since they are icons which attempt to express emotions like sad, angry, cool, and so forth which can be difficult to express in words in a message.)

Now lastly, type some words in the message edit window, and leave the blinking cursor where you want the icon to appear in your message. Using your mouse, select the icon you want to use. For now select the EEK! . Be aware, you may not always see the icon in your edit window, you might just see a colon followed by a capital letter. For example a colon : followed by a capital letter D is . Now left click on the button Preview Post In the Preview Window, you should see your smiley icons.

        Hope This Helps

        Phil

HAPPY SAINT PATS DAY! I'll have to check out the smilies at home, boss gets mad if we d/l anything at work, especially if we get a virus! Not a happy camper. As you may have guessed, I check this site at work on my breaks & lunch, otherwise I would never getanything done at home!

What don't you understand? I check out this site at work and we are FORBIDDEN to download anything that doesn't have to do with work, smilies included. If I d/l something and it has a virus attached and causes problems with our systems at work I can be fired on the spot. And if I checked this site at home, I would be on here all the time and wouldn't get any scrolling done!

So I check out the site at work and don't d/l anything. Understand? Speaking of which, lunch is over!!

I think Grizz was just showing off he did not direct that comment torward you. Have a good day at the office but a better day at the scrollsaw. Now if you could only combine them both what a gem you would have.
