I'm not real familiar with Inkscape, but when I click on circle, I can draw ellipses and circles.
    Maybe reinstall the program??

I used Inkscape .48 that I downloaded back a few yrs ago for Windows7. It is also working on Windows10. I first click on the circle on the left side. I then left click in the work space and while holding down the left mouse button, I drag the mouse to draw a circle or oval.

      Hope this helps

A couple questions. Are you trying make a circle in a blank document? Are you using Windows - or? Layers may have a solution for you.

image_70819.jpg I had the same problem when I installed .91. The problem is that there is no fill or stoke defined and so what I did by hit and miss.

use the tool shape you want and draw in document. go to lower left and set fill and stokes

Right click in the upper right and you should get properties. Expand box by clicking on the edges and pulling out .

Go to shapes pick tool and click on tool has own style and then "take from selection".

see below. I can change to no fill or different colours. When you open new document it is set from last time

On the bottom of the screen, try clicking on the color next to the 'Fill', then the 'Fill & Stroke' panel should appear on the right side of the screen. Then try following Don's instructions above.

Sorry I have an older version, so I can't try this first.

                Thanks,
                Donna
