Hello,
Just joined this forum. All the bragging pieces I have seen are just beautiful!!! Just getting started and am enjoying it immensely. I have a couple of old 2 man buck saws and was thinking about having them painted with a scene. But since I got my new scrollsaw for Christmas I was wondering if anyone knows where I might locate a pattern and do something with it myself (after I have a LOT more practice). Thanks

coloring books are a good place or just look up scroll saw patterns on the net I have even done some cartoons on wood remeber most coloring books are copy righted you can make just can t sell i believe so I cut some and give to the little kids they love them I make them into magnets for thier school papers

Hi and wellcome scrollerbaby. you could just about aply any pattern to a saw. but here is a couple pattern cataloges you can get for free. and they ;have lots of patterns for what you wont to do. Welcome aboard. Did I read it correctly? You are considering scrollsawing some type of design in your antique buck saws? The blade of the bucksaw? That will be extremely hard to do, that old hardened steel is tough stuff. you will need some specialty blades for sure, and consider the sawdust (metal filings), and how they can effect the moving parts on your scrollsaw. I would suggest leaving the bucksaws natural, or painting them, and scroll some good old fashioned wood instead! Dale (if I misinterpreted your post, I apologize)

Not that way lucky788scroller. I was thinking of using some type of wood and then using the metal as a background to attach it to. Some sort of landscape, flower, tree something pattern. I agree with you Lucky. I can't imagine anything that would work in a scrollsaw to cut through the an old bucksaw. A plasma cutter ... probably ... and it would be REALLY cool, but the steel in a buck saw is meant to cut stuff, not to be cut ... could be tricky.

Thanks to all of you. It will be a little while before I attempt anything. I have seen regular hand saws ( I think by CraftyNYscroller) similar to what I would like to do with the bucksaw. Just working on small puzzles and practice things right now but am getting very addicted to it. Might interfere with my gardening.
