Sawman21, for some reason I missed that plate on the first post. That is nice work. The wife loves hummingbirds so I have to ask where that pattern came from? Steve

maybe the others can tell you because I don't know myself where. I will have to find some 1/4" wood for some projects that I would like to do.

Dumpsters... no not really. There are so-o-o-o-o many different suppliers around on-line to get special plywood for scrolling such as: Scroller LTD. (http://www.scrolleronline.com), The Winfield Collection (http://www.thewinfieldcollection.com), and a slew of others I know the "old timers" on here can tell you about. I hate to admit but I do get some of my thinner plywood at a couple local cabinet makers. I have some buddies that get the good stuff before it hits the dumpster.

Anyway... Welcome! If they can't answer it here... it's probably impossible. It's good to see some of the 'next generation' picking up the hobby too.

Will have to check the Winfield book for that. Never took a close look at the wood only the patterns. Thanks

Without the complete schematic it is hard to know what is correct.
That said, it is a multispeed blower that obviously has a controller board. That board varies the power to the motor. By doing what you did you bypassed that. You put power across the low and high windings. If any thing connecting...

If he connected to red and black and the motor spun wouldn't that indicate the motor is grounded? Without connecting the white the circuit isn't complete and the motor should not spin.

The reason for the smoke is incorrect wiring, posible melted insulation between motor windings and motor frame.

You mentioned connecting power to the red & and black wire. Did you do anything with White wire? Per the lable on the motor the black wire is high the Red is low. White common...
