    Hello...

The name is Danny and scrolling since October last year...Thanks to the Msn Intarsia group i found a world of techniques and mostly lovely people who are willing the share their tips.

Having made allready over 12 projects and 5 in the making intarsia is a great hobby and it makes great presents for the family.

Wondering i there are more people are doing intarsia in the Kent region of England.

    Happy sawdust making, Danny

Welcome Pagan!!! We've got a few others here on the message board from across the pond...

I have to admit, though, that my geography knowledge of Great Britian is very poor, so I have know idea where the others are in relation to you!

      Hi Danny

Welcome to the forum . I've always fancied having a go at intarsia but been discouraged by the unavailability of woods in the UK that seem to be essential for projects by American designers. There don't seem to be any British intarsia pattern designers. I'm delighted you've come along - if I can pick your brains, I might be able to make progress at last .

If there are many more like you in Kent, unfortunately they haven't found us yet. I think our nearest member to you is in London, and I don't recall seeing him produce any intarsia.

        Hi Danny!

Welcome to the group. I don't know if I am the Londoner Gill's referring to but I haven't tried my hand at intarsia, that's for sure.

Have you any pictures of your work to post? It would be great to see it.

            No pushing though

            Aloha...me again...

I really don't wanna push myself forward but i do design patterns aspecially for intarsia and try to sell them... See my profile for details
In the early days of my life i was and still am a graphic worker and used to work with Adobe, so that's nice to know on how to make patterns...
And on the wood to get in this region is quite a problem if you want some more exotic colors like pupleheart, ebony or WRC and don't have a car, nearby i have a lumberyard who saw the big logs for me, so that's quite handy...I got drying now: Chestnut, eucalyptus and cherry.

And next month i go the IWE (International Woodworking Exhibition) so lets see what they have n stock...

http://groups.msn.com/Intarsia/pagansintarsia.msnw is the MSN Intarsia group page where some of my makings is displayed...

Yes, Chris, you were the one I had in mind.

I've just visited your website, Danny. Wow! I love your patterns , especially the fairy stuff - very Lord of the Rings. Have you thought of including a link to your website in your signature block? It's pretty common practice around here.

A question - what wood do you use for white colours? Edit: I've just seen your MSN album and the answer's clearly maple .
