  • Hello from Idaho

    Hello to all scrollers:

I've been a member of this forum since 2008. Basically, I just joined to see what scrolling was all about. I originally bought a scroll saw on a whim when it was on sale in England. It sat in the box for years, due to a personal decision. The decision was based on priorities. The priority was to finish school. Well about 5 years ago I completed my bachelor's degree and finally pulled the scroll saw out of the box. Then I started reading books on how to use it. That led to several trial and error fiascos which I'd rather not go into. Then I discovered this forum and started reading what others had to say about scroll sawing. There were some ideas that worked great. Like putting clear packing take on the wood and then applying spray adhesive on the tape for pattern placement instead of on the wood directly. Brilliant. Or cutting white shelf paper down to paper size instead of buying the more expensive white self adhesive paper. Once again, that was a brilliant idea. I then started using the scroll saw for about a year and then put it away again for school. Now my master's degree is completed and I can start having fun again. The wife has already given me a list of things she wants me to make. Which of course breaks my heart. So to all scrollers out there, I am looking forward to reading your posts, especially on ways to help increase my skills as a scroller.
So as Paul Harvey was famous for saying when closing his show, "Good Day."

Greetings and welcome... and congratulatons on both your degrees!!! I have been scrolling two whole days and I already have requests from my wife and kids. The kids come first of course. =) But don't tell my wife that. My daughter took a whole 5 minutes to dropped the cat I scrolled on the floor and break a foot off... lol.
