  • RBI Scroll Saw History - Models

I'm a woodworker and a history buff - anyone have any knowledge of the history of RBI Scroll Saws made by R. B. Industries and the specific models they have made since they started in 1982? Any tid-bits would help.

I know they were recently bought out. Maybe a good place to start would be with the new owners.

Welcome on board. Do you cut ?

Bought a RBI Hawk about 2000..

I bought an RBI Hawk about 2000...they were in Harrisonville , Mo. , then shortly after went out or sold out the business....not sure where they went or who they are now.......need to find some parts.....mine still works excellent , but I have two scroll saws one uses pinned blades the RBI doesn't , would like to get the adapters to put pinned blades on the RBI , saves buying different inventory etc.....It's an excellent saw , but I use the Chicago for smaller work and go to the RBI when I cut larger pieces....the RBI has problems with the size #2 and scroll blades without the pinned end.....

Rolf, Richard Boehl at QTE says the next shipment is expected soon and a new unit will be sent to me. From the comments in this thread it looks like it will be safe to plug the saw into the Festool. I wish I knew what caused the failure. If operator error, I don't want it to happen again....

The lack of service facilities is an industry wide problem not just in the SS world. To find tech savvy factory support is rare.
I am fortunate that I can fix most anything myself. I don't have a Pegas saw or I would dig into one. The big problem is most tools like Pegas are sold by distributors...

As a Pegas dealer, I think I will chime in on this thread. It was a huge mistake to let Bob Duncan go, but I don’t know the circumstances. I Had a customer with a tension lever problem. I sent a new lever, but there was a question on how to replace it. They passed my email on to someone and he...
