  • Hello all from Michigan

I have been having a problem with my blades. I prefer to use spiral blades, and recently when ever I try to tighten them they will either pop off, or the ends will bend to the point that I cannot use them for another cut. Please help.

Welcome Taylor, sorry to hear you are having a blade problem.
Are you using flat end spiral blades? Try running the ends between some sandpaper or cloth with alcohol on it. Blades usually come with a bit of residue oil on them.
If they are not flat end spirals, try twisting both ends so they end up on the same plane.
Another thing you could do is clean your clamps by running some sandpaper between them.
I'm sure others will be along with more info for you but that's all I can think of for now.

Thanks Wood. I tried the sand paper on the ends. It helped a little, but I will try to twist the ends for now. Then order some flat ends soon.

Jim, I am very impressed! You really got the hang of the welder quickly. Love the design. I sold my MIG when I decided on the TIG. I regret that decision, but space was an issue. I have a bunch of spray cans that were being thrown out at work that were meant for spraying on a metal surface before welding...

Rolf, no I keep looking at them and thinking of doing it, but I am lucky my shop is sort of large enough for what I do, especially since I am drifting away from rebuilding Harley engines and repairing the bikes. I'm getting too old to be bent over that stuff anymore, even though I built the shop tables...
