I am another newbie, just joined yesterday. I have been buying anything I can to read about scroll sawing for the past two years. I bought a Hitachi CW40 scroll saw 1 1/2 years ago, but I had to let it sit for awhile to take care of a family member. I have now used my saw several times and really enjoy it. I plan on learning to make toys for my grandkids and christmas ornaments to start with.

Welcome Don - what a good way to start your New Year - join a good group of people! Toys for the grandkids is an excellent way to practice - they're not at all critical of the level of your talent so you can make actual, useful stuff right away. Same thing with Christmas ornaments. We'd love to see whatever you create along the way, so be sure to upload photos. As you have probably already seen, you'll find a WORLD of helpful information here -- and the people can't be beat!
