    Hello,

Just a few lines to say hello and how's it going?

I am a new to the art of scroll sawing, but have got the bug at last.
My main creative outlet the past few years has been Pyrography and scroll working seemed a natural progression for me.

I tended to do mainly Celtic themed work and decorative designs, either on bowls, boxes, assorted other blanks and flatwork. I used to do the Craft fairs here in North West of UK, but have not done any now for a few years.

I recently bought an entry level scrollsaw ie Proxxon Micromot DS230/E.
Funny little machine this one, but am getting used to its quirks. Will start some projects once I get my hand in with it I hope soon.

If I manage to get to grips I hope to incorporate some Pyro work into my designs, but mastering the basics for now I reckon before I get too creative too quickly.

I have spent past two weeks watching every video I can find, looking at techniques, machinery, blades etc etc, and have got the theory down some. Now I just need to get use the little Proxxon. Done some test cuts, ironed out some niggley fualts on the machine and hope to make a start next week on my first major project.

Spent best part of last week reorganising my little 15' by 6' workshop into a cleaner and more organised place to work, and working out ways of utilising what tools I have to get around the constraints of blank sizes and recut problems when not having a band saw. As well as scourcing exotic and hardwoods.

I used to use sycamore blanks and 6mm Birch faced ply for my pyro work, so may well do more of that type of project, but have also sent for some other woods to get a feel for the limitations of my machine, my tools on hand and of course my complete lack of scroll sawing history.

Anyhow that's enough for now, thanks for reading my intro.
