  • Hello From Texas

    Hello,
My name is Greg and I live in Houston, Texas.
I have been Scroll Sawing for about four to five years now, and I'm still learning something new each time I cut a new project.
I'm thinking about trying to do fret saw'en clocks, so I will be asking a lot of questons.
Thanks ahead of time for any help that you all can give,

    Greg

    Welcome Greg--
Always nice to have another Texan in the group. I think Texans and Canadians constitute a majority. I'm sure you will get plenty of good advice from this group. There is a lot of experience lurking about.

Welcome Greg! Yes if one is not learning something with each project there would little reason to start a new one.

          Welcome Greg,
There are at least several expert clock sawyers on this board - you will probably find that they have experienced just about every challenge there is in them, and conquered them. All you have to do to tap into that experience is to ask.
          Sandy
PS. What sort of projects have you been doing for the last 5 years?

Thank you all for the warm welcome,
To answer Sandy’s question I have done Christmas Ornaments, Crosses, Name Plates, Angels, Personalized mini baseball bats, small desk clocks, welcome signs, and some Words of Faith plaques.
I have a small 10’ X 12’ shed behind my house that I work out of. I will sometimes pull my DeWalt 788 Saw out under a tree to cut some projects when the weather gets too hot. I am waiting on a disk/belt sander that I have ordered to help me with my fret saw clock construction.
Thanks again for the warm welcome, and I look forward to hearing from you all again.

                Welcome

                Welcome, Greg-

This is the best forum for asking questions you will ever come across.

I am a native Texan, I was born in Waco and lived in Ft. Worth for a long, long time. I am stuck in Florida with my job.

If you need baldes try Flying Duchman at www.mikesworkshop.com/ . Mike will do you right.

                  Thanks

                  Thanks,
Bill and Bill. With all of the people in Texas that Scroll Saw we should have our own Picnic.
I lived in Waco back in the early 70's and still have kin there.
Hope to talk with you guys again, and thanks for the welcome.
                  Greg

P.s. I been using Mick's FD baldes for some time now, and they are great.

                      Hello neighbor

Greg, drop me an email. I live in Sugar Land and would like to talk with you. Do you belong to WWCH? I also have a DeWalt and love it. I'd also like to chat with you about the FD blades as I have used them and always go back to my Olsons.

So many are selling them here it’s not worth us making them. However, we do very well with our dough boards. Nobody else makes them. We have an order for a dough board and matching pepper grinder. The walnut board I could make into a beautiful basket or two and sell for lots more than they are getting...

I did forget to mention he cut a finger on his left hand with the bandsaw. Just took skin off. Lucky again. Told him he was calling 911 next time.

Jim, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, on the left you’ll find some style options that change the font size and color. I’ve been using Defalt vB5 Style, and it seems to be about the best for my iPad, but I’m still experimenting with my iMac.
