Just wanted to say hi to all scrollers and to let you know I have entered my name in the 2006 Elections for the Board of SAW. I am currently the President of the Heart of Ohio Scrollers which I helped organize in 2004. I demonstrate across Ohio and have been active on the craft show circuit. 78 alltogether in the last 4 years. Anyone have any questions please feel free to respond. Toby

    Show circuit

Toby...where are you in Ohio? I'm about 50 miles south of Marietta on the West Virginia side of the river. Not many scrollers on this side, at least none I know. I'd like to visit some of the shows if there are any within reasonable driving distance. We have several shows each year locally but mostly low end craft items. The West Virginia Arts and Crafts Show is held in Ripley, about 9 miles from me, annually during the week of the 4th. of July. It's a big show covering several acres and is attended by hundreds, if not thousands, of people. About all types of arts and crafts are represented there and the artisan's work must be juried in. I'll try to get you specific info if you're interested. Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you here often.

        Neal,

Gee, sounds like quite abit of us are in the 'neighborhood.' I'm in Xenia. I've got a brother in law who works for Simonton as a Testing Engineer. I think that is in Pennsboro, WVa? He gets 60% off items at Woodcrafters and if it's a big item... 5% over wholesale. I'm working on him to get me a DeWalt Thickness Planer. heh heh heh.

Anyway, we all need to get together or something.

            Shrink wrap systems
            by Linda In Phoenix
What do you use to shrink wrap, and what do you use it on? Lately in the puzzles section I've seen a couple of you mention shrink wrapping. I've considered such a leap. Even though the basics are all similar from manufacturer to manufacturer, it's still leaves some questions. Maybe others have...

Brrrr. Glad you got to sell a little. I miss the people interaction. A lot. I hope you found some pretty pieces of wood at the store!

New tools can definitely open up the scope of what we can do, or how well I'm on the band wagon. Congrats!

At work (like 15 years ago) we got in some aluminum sheet on pallets 4'x12'. Those pallets were like brand new, without even any discoloring from the metals. I asked our sales rep, and he said I could keep one pallet. I removed all the 4' boards, which measured about 1/2" thick, 4" wide...

I agree that needs to be saved for a special project. The wood is likely oak based on the grain pattern and the discoloration around the nail.
