Hi. With our 2 daughters gone from the nest and my University study completed I went looking for a new hooby and found scrolling through my husband's woodworker's guild and am now a member of that too. I use a Delta 16" saw. About 6 members have really got into scrolling with a few more becoming interested. In April I organised our very first Scrollsaw Picnic, Kiwi Style, (alias workshop day) in our garage. We made individual items and put them up for a raffle at our WW Guild's open day Sunday 29/May. We also had a good sized display table and three saws doing demos all day. All in all we created a great deal of interest. Our hope is to get more Guild members and therefore more numbers added to our scrolling group. It will be just great if one day we can muster all the Kiwi scrollers together!
    Cheers. Teresa .

    Welcome

Welcome to the art of scrolling and the best forum online
I have used the 16" Delta for 8 years or so and never tire of it. I like pushing it to the limits. I even cut 2" maple for a rockinghorse......I have to admit I did have to do some sanding where I scorched the wood.
You will enjoy the banter and the advice here. Most of us do

We would love to see some of your work posted in the gallery

      Little Flower:

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your visits.

BTW: in your part of world, since you are on a large island, how is the supply of lumber and plywood for hobby work? Just being inquisitve.

Thanks for the warm welcom, everyone. In reply to where do I get my wood? Well my husband is an AVID turner, and has made himself a portable mill with a four foot bar chainsaw. He gets offers of wood from EVERYWHERE and because he works for the City Council, and the tree guys work for him, he gets first choice of whatever's coming down. Mind you he has certainly kept them on his side by supplying them with thankyou clocks!! I think he has enough to keep him busy for about 3yrs! Works well. I'm also lucky in that he has a garage full of tools and machinery!! Basically I'm pretty new to this practical side of working with wood thing but 'm learning quickly. yes some of my work is in the gallery.
                  Cheers. Teresa .
