  • Klingspor Extravaganza

The annual Klingspor Extravaganza is another victim of COVID. This would have been their 20th year doing that and I have been doing demos in more than half through my club NC Woodworkers. But they are not throwing in the towel. They are going to try and do a virtual show. Here is the link: https://www.woodworkingextravaganza.com/

For the record I have no connections to Klingspor outside of doing demos at some of their events.

Virtual demos just aren't the same. I love doing demos in person and being able to interact with people and answer their questions on the spot. It's sad and I truly miss it. The Covid virus has infected businesses as much as people. Hunting for a new planer as well as trying to get some maintenance parts for other equipment is coming up with "out of stock" and "backorder" issues blamed on Covid killing inventories. Several places have told me woodworking equipment and supplies have been selling out far faster then they can get them in ever since Covid started because people were staying home. In the long run though, maybe this will be a shot in the arm to get more people back into woodworking. That would be cool! Thank you for sharing your link.

I appreciate the input from everyone but, I need clarify to my work? space. I originally stated my area measures 6'X10' and, it does. But, I only have about 5'X5' of available space and, that's without taking myself into consideration.

I'll add in some food for thought too. I was unsure if I would enjoy this hobby (addiction) so I started with the Porter Cable from Lowes. I think it is a good entry level saw, 5 months later I found an Excaliber on Craigs List and have been happy ever since.

Food for thought, When I first started scrolling my thinking was "all I want to do is this and I will never do that as it doesn't interest me". I didn't know I would be working with SSWWC or get sucked into creating Intarsia or doing large intricate fretwork, like Charles Hand designs....

Thank you all for giving me a little more to consider. I thought I had covered everything in my mind until others chimed in!
