  • Wood Magazine Wood Workers show Chantilly, VA

I missed the Timonium show, (my annual birthday present), as my wife's sister died and we had to make an emergency run down to Florida.

Now comes the Chantilly, VA show at the end of February. -- http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/chantilly.html

I'll be there on Saturday, and I know my son and his wife are coming up from Richmond.

Here you go Scott - take 234 at Dumfries and miss the DC beltway altogether.

Off to the show this morning. And I have a padlock on the wallet pocket to keep my hands off.

All in all - very disappointing. There were only about 18 vendors. Peachtree was not there and many smaller vendor sell through them. There was no scroll saw anything - zip nada. There was some beautiful wood, but very expensive. My son and his wife came up from Richmond for the show, so I got to spend some time with them. They were looking for wood turning items and did buy some wood. my purchases were limited to a couple of gadgets from WoodPeckers, and a circle cutting jig from Carter Tools. Alex Snodgrass was there doing his bandsaw presentations, which are always fun to watch.

One of the reasons for the limited showing was the size of the room. They were in a ballroom sized room. If they had more space they probably
would have had a better show. I'll wait for the show next year in Timonium, MD. They they have the same amount of space as a football field.

Maybe a review on the Carter circle cutting jig coming in the not to distant future.

Hey Tony, next time you are in Richmond let me know. That is only 2 hours away. Maybe we can meet.

Baltimore was pretty descent this year. Rumor has it that the owner of peach tree isn’t doing well and that’s not why they weren’t at the show. A lot of vendors come under them. The booth selling pickles did real well!!!

I contacted Peachtree prior to the Baltimore Show to see if they would be there. They responded then that they would not be doing any more shows. No reason was given. I am holding out hope that they may return at some point - they are the highlight of my visit to the show. They are truly missed.
