Well I entered something for the first time at the fair and was happy and surprised to see a blue ribbon. My 9 year old daughter also entered a scrolled piece, one of Diana Thompson's miniature birdhouses (she'll be submitting her membership to the MBHAA as soon as possible and also received a blue ribbon. She came home with about 5 blue ribbons (photography / handmade dress / poster) and a second place for another photo as well as being crowned Princess of the fair. I told her Dad wasn't about to try and keep up with her !

Now to start thinking about next year's entry. My daughter already has her wheel's spinning.

Fantastic results Don! - you must be so proud of your daughter and maybe also a little worried about how next she will upstage you _ LOL! - but that's a worry I'm sure you can handle. Congratulations to the two of you.

                Congradulations to both of you.

Sounds like it would be hard for anyone to keep up with her. She is on a roll I wish her and you the best of luck in keeping the streek going.

Thanks everyone. She had a lot of fun making the birdhouse and wants to make some more. I'm surely not about to try and keep up with her. Once I cut something I usually hear "Oooh I like that can I have one?" I've been slowly teaching both of my young one's and they are taking to it, so I now say sure you can have one but I'll help you make it. My son is interested in the lathe I just got recently so we'll see where that goes.

@Rolf - The photo and pattern are my own; it was a memorial portrait I had cut of the family cat after we sadly had to put him down. Some the whiskers we're really hair raising (pun intended ) I have it on my website here for those interested How is it done? - Dogwood Studios Scroll Saw Gallery of American Handmade Wooden Gifts, Puzzles and Home Decor
