  • Artistry in Wood this weekend

Is anyone coming to the Artistry in Wood show this weekend in Wilmington, Ohio? It's put on by the Dayton Carvers Guild and is held at the Roberts Center, which is basically centered between Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton. While it's primarily a woodcarving show, they have a woodworking contest with a scroll saw category and there are several scroll sawyers who have tables. I know Grobet will be there showing off their new scroll saw band saw; I can't wait to see that! We'll also have a booth showing off projects that appeared in Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts.

Wish Fox Chapel would come to the Klingspor Show in Hickory. Any chance the PA wood working show will be resurrected?

This is my weekend to work, so I guess I will miss this one. Have been to one show at Roberts and had a good time--spent too much money on wood.

Too early to leave, too late to call in.

Any of my test cuts on display?
Too far far me to drive, plus I need to build a clock before Nov 10

"Grobet will be there showing off their new scroll saw band saw" - can you share what you learned about the scroll saw band saw?

It's amazing. They promise me one to review as soon as it's available. They had a #9 blade on there, and it was the size of a standard #9 blade. It sliced through 4" thick basswood like butter. There is a learning curve because you need to apply constant pressure onto the blade to keep it the support slot on the bearing, so when turning a tight corner, you need to adjust your technique. You can also not back out of a cut at all (for the same reason). But it blew me away!
