Too cute! And a good job you did, as well. I hate painting as well, but what did you use that came out so shiny? And did you spray it on to get it so even?

I have made a lot of whirligigs in the past and found that Lowe's sells a water base gloss enamel Valspar paint that works well.. (I used it for the yellow) and Patio Paint from Michael's for the white, and Pumpkin Orange from Apple barrel for the feet. Then a coat of Ultra Clear Valspar for the finish. (I did drill holes for the dowels , but as my garden is watered every day decided to just let the birds set on the patio).. Looking for more like this.
Thank you Karl, I to have seen these baskets at goodwill. I guess the reason they are so cheep is because they are easy to make. To cut your collapsible basket you just tilt your saw table to the left 4 to 5 degrees (for the basket only). For those of you that would like to find patterns check out this...
You know the sad part about our scroll saw work is where it ends up. I was just a Goodwill and saw a collapsible basket there with a price of only a few dollars.
I bought 11 patterns of collapsible wood baskets from the Cherry Tree back about 1995. They are not copies, they are origionals and some are large.
