Re: Power Strop
I've got a basswood board 10' long 1 1/2' wide and 3/4' of an inch thing that I whittled all the inside profiles for my tools into (100+ tools and lots of room left). Charge it up with buffing compound and works fine. Me thinks that unless you have a professional sharpening business them power thingies are a bit of overkill although it would be nice to strop one in 10 seconds vice 30 seconds.

When I was up at Chipping Away, they showed me their Power Strop. It was a small motor belt-driving a shaft that had a wooden form with multiple profiles turned on it. The various profiles allowed for stropping inside and outside bevels. If memory serves, it was less than 18' square and fairly light. I don't remember the price but I remember thinking it was expensive for only stropping.

Re: Power Strop
Sorry everyone, it's actually the Port A Strop. It's a rechargable strop. I don't know where I got Power Strop.

I attended a carving class and there was one at the class. It worked excellant for stropping but with only a single wheel it is sometimes inconvenient. If all you were going to do is strop it would be fine. But if you need to clear a nick or re-shape an edge changing belts for each operation and then adjusting them is inconvenient. I much prefer the set up that I have with a single shaft with five wheels. It allows you to grind, sand, strop and polish without any additional set up. It runs slow and doesn't get your tools too hot. The only downside is that it takes a lot of counter space, about 30 inches, because the wheels are far enough apart so that you can work from the right or left on each wheel.

Power Strop
Has anyone used the Power Strop yet. They sent it to us to review, and I fooled around with it a bit, but does anyone have any opinions on it?

Reply to Who has Been Vaccinated ?by meflickI’m too young yet
don’t meet other guidelines. We are still 75 and over or health care workers I believe. My husband is in health care, so he has now gotten both of his shots. At this rate, I figure I will be doing good if I get sometime this summer.
Glad hubby got his, figure he was my biggest...

Reply to Who has Been Vaccinated ?by will8989Our appt is next week, I think. We are going to another county as ours doesn’t have enough. So they say. First one was cancelled for 2/1 as they had to make sure they had enough for the 2nd shot. Applied the next day and got the same appointment they cancelled. Go figure.
