  • Stubai palm tools

Have had tham about a week now and here's ;my impression. There ad says light honing ... I guess it depends on you definition of light ... about 1/2 hour per tool counting stroppinjg and all. After that they are o.k. As a test carved cross graiin on Basswood, poplar, and birch. All worked fine with a nice shine to the cut. But if you don't like sharpening you might want to try some other brand. Personal oppinion is, for what they charge the tools oughta be sharp.

Not all retailers sharpen their tools before sending them to customers.
Very few tool manufacturers provide 'ready-to-use) tools.

I'm probably a little picky about sharp. The main problem was the bevels weren't true. They were very slightly holllow ground and at an angle at that. But , after getting that straighted out they're fine and hold the edge just fine. I just can't stand a dull tool be it a saw, axe, machete, knife or whatever. I guess i'm a sharp freak Have a collection of stones, strops, stroppig compound, etc. that would stock most stores.

I would, but don't think my collection of sharpening equipment and love of sharpening would make up for being old, ugly, and already married with kids and grandkids.

I'll talk about this specific "slice" of your question, with more detail that you probably want or need.

Most Tilting head saws do come from the same Taiwan factory, except Excalibur. So what happened with Excalibur was . . . General got bought by a Chinese investor, some China/Taiwan...

Did this thread get hacked? That is a very strange sidetrack from KyivWorkshop.

It doesn’t matter whether the saw table tilts or the saw arm tilts. Either can be used for any project cut at an angle, and there’s a learning curve for each.

I actually prefer the tilting table because the blade remains vertical. I find that at really steep angles, like 40 or 45 degrees,...

This is the tapestry I found in the cedar chest. We can’t identify where the pictures are from. Two among many. I also forgot to mention dad was also in the army Fife and Drum Corps and also played with a big band when he was discharged. Have to find that info....

What a morning. The therapists were quite pleased with what he could do. He took the wrap off today and he can walk with the walker with very little pain. It’s getting the leg completely straight that is hard to do. It’s when his brother stopped in that things went off rails. Rolf, we are talking...
