Has anyone had experience with Warren Tools (interchangeable handles). I found a set in a catalog for $37. It has seven different knive blades, v-tool and a gouge. Comes with a small case to carry everything. Looks like it would be nice to carry on trips, for when the carving bug bites! :-/

Re: Warren Tools?
That is a good price, the tools are very useable for a travel kit, the tools will all require some sharpening and some need regrinding to reduce thickness and clean up the flashing on the carving tools. You may also want to order a palm-grip handle for use with the carving tools. 8)

Re: Warren Tools?
I bought the very set you are referring to. The blades will benefit from some attention to finishing details and some honing but otherwise, a good travel set. The blades are re-sharpenable and I have never thrown one away. I did sand that glossy finish off of the handle, though. Put a little tung oil on it and find it much more comfortable. I wish they would spend a bit more time polishing the chisles and gouges. They come with the black scaly finish created in heat treating and it is quite crude looking.

Re: Warren Tools?
I've had some for years and they do make great traveling tools. I have been known to use them once in a while at home for special things. You will get used to any tools you have then you will buy a high priced tool somewhere and 'wham'. You are done in. Get out the credit card and fill the tool chest.Jim McKinney

Reply to Spring IssueI let my subscription lapse as I have difficulties handling the patterns on the broad sheet in the centre.
I saw the latest book available at Walmart and had quick look. I think only one pattern is in the book and 11 on the insert. Didn't buy.
