  • Cursive letter router templates?

Is it possible to use router templates to do cursive, or cursive-ish writing in wood? I've seen templates that produce sort of block style letters but I can't wrap my head around how cursive templates would work or what they would look like, but I'm not the best visualizer either.

Where might you find such a template set?

DSC_8785.jpg Google Daves Wooden signs. they have a huge series of videos on how to freehand carve wooden signs. I did this one years ago. (2015) I printed out the design/text glued it to the surface. Then with a trim router and carving bits routed out the areas I wanted. In this case it was the background. Sprayed the entire thing with Black "Marsh stencil Ink" .
When dry I sanded the entire surface. This was deliberately a bit rough for where it was going. My first attempt lots of fun. I used Word to print the lettering.

Rockler sells a script lettering sign making set.

If I were going to make lots of signs I would invest in a CNC machine. Freehand is fun and the template idea is interesting but too much work for me.
