For once a happy topic from me. No one sick, injured, recovering from surgery but WE ARE GOING TO SEE MY SIL RING THE BELL for the end of her chemo! She’s only 1/3 of the way there but still a happy day!

Yesterday was amazing to see someone ring the bell after beating cancer. When we left we walked to our cars and had our arms around each others shoulders. I told her this was the best party I have ever been to. I found this message on my phone this morning “I am such a blessed woman. I was so excited. My two angels on earth were there you and my friend Sandy.” Believe me, I’ve never been called an angel. The best news, she only needs 6 weeks of radiation after surgery not 6 months.Betty

Talked to her today. She’s still sick from chemo which isn’t unusual. Planning on going to New York on Thursday to spend time with her daughter and grand daughters. She said something about a big party before surgery.Betty

Today’s tests will determine the next step in her treatment. They are “searching” for any cells that may have “escaped” chemo into other parts. Surgery is scheduled for July 3, type to be determined on test results. I do not know how she has kept her sanity through the last 7 months. Many tears and prayers have kept us going. Keep them coming. We need them. Prayers, we have enough tears.Last edited by will8989; 06-20-2023, 11:40 AM.Betty

Update surgery was today, they removed tumors. Biopsies will be done in 3-5 days to see if any cells are in surrounding areas. Surgeon was very optimistic they got everything with treatments. Reconstruction surgery in 2 weeks as well as removing any more tissue if necessary. Keep prayers coming! She said all the prayers are working and getting her through this. One more step down many more to go.Betty

Thank you everyone for your many prayers and good thoughts throughout the last 7 months. It means more than you can possibly know. 6 more months and hopefully this will be in our rear view mirror. She is one tough Beautiful Individual That Can Handle anything. Read the caps.Betty

by RolfOur Judges are some of the best woodworkers I have ever met. On occasion I get asked to explain what I look for in the scrolling categories. I point out all of the nuances. I can't be a judge as I have intarsia and scroll work entries.

by RolfThere may have been some crud on the tips from manufacturing.
In the ~20 years of scrolling I never cleaned the ends of my blades until recently. Even with the Pegas clamps I was having some blade slippage, I now scuff the ends of my blades with some 220 grit paper End of problem.!...-

by NC ScrollerDon’t over sand them as you will shorten their usable life. Only sand as needed. Another thing to do is clear your blades before installing. Blades are coated with oil to prevent rust. Wipe the ends with alcohol or lightly sand with 320 grit.

by cwmageeThe fact that you only had approximately 6 hours on the saw tells me there was a thin oily film on the clamps from the manufacturing process.
If problem continues you may have spread the clamps in the process of tighten blades. A common problem with OEM parts. This issue will disappear by replacing...-
