  • Snow anyone?

How much did you get Carole? My niece in Putnam Valley had 14” earlier in the day and snow expected until late evening. We had zip. Just wind. Hope everyone is safe who did get snow.

Maybe 4" or so. We've been lucky this winter, and also have nice neighbors with a snow blower who took care of our driveway.

We had a first snow of the season on Sunday. A flurry that lasted less than 15 minutes.

I live about 15 miles from Carole, in Poughkeepsie, right by the Hudson River. The papersays we had about 6 inches, but I can tell you it was maybe 1 inch of snow and 5 inches of slush. My snowblower couldn't even handle it, so this old guy pushed it all out to the street, and today it's all melted.

You know those 5 Gal Home depo/Lowes/harborfreight/etc buckets? Got those over my blueberrys, trying to save those blooms . . . . So it's take them off during the afternoon to keep from boiling them, then back on at night to keep from freezing them. I have a few big bushes, those have the full out city trash cans over those. Probably wishful thinking.

Freaking TN always has to have a freeze period, after weeks in the 80s . . . can't get a break.

We went from 70 to 20 like the weather had seen a cop. Expected a dusting and got about three inches of wet, heavy crap. 20230312_105105.jpg

I wish I could get the pictures off my tracfone. My pickup and front steps were buried in snow several weeks ago. My brother in law was snowed in from last Saturday until yesterday. It took him that long with tractor do dig himself out to the county road. This was up by the ND border. The snow and wind up there was unreal. Even though I-90 was closed the highway patrol pulled someone over for doing over 100 miles an hour. The news tonight shows a semi being held up by a highway patrol car that it slid into. There was also a picture of a deer that was on top of house because the drifts were so high. I am so ready for spring.

Well, here's the picture. It may be a garage and not a house. But still not something you see everyday deer.jpg Here's one of the semi and the highway patrol car. semi.jpg

Our little corner of SW PA has had one of the lowest snow totals of any winter season in my memory. We got a couple inches the earlier this week, which is a couple inches more than we got in the whole month of February.

Not complaining, mind you. I've seen the news reports of the incredible snow fall amounts in other parts of the country and don't even want to imagine what that would be like.

No snow here in Central Mexico unless you want to climb up to the summit of one of our local high altitude volcanos but we did get a surprise a couple of days back.

We’ve had absolutely no rain since Christmas in what for us is our regular arid winter weather period but after a week of untypically hot weather into the 80’s the weather suddenly changed in the afternoon. The temperature dropped 20F and a large electrical storm rolled in immediately followed by a large amount of hail and then a deluge of rain. Half of the city got a white covering of hailstones up to 2” deep in places before it was quickly washed away. The following shot of a local kiddies dinosaur park looks somewhat surreal. Strange weather!!!

Yesterday was amazing to see someone ring the bell after beating cancer. When we left we walked to our cars and had our arms around each others shoulders. I told her this was the best party I have ever been to. I found this message on my phone this morning “I am such a blessed woman. I was so excited....
