Got to hospital at 5 and office didn’t open until 5:30. Could have slept to 4 instead of 3. Right knee replacement. Surgery was at 7, he was awake and up by 10:30, pt and out the door by 12. Not much to do today except take meds, and walk 10 minutes an hour. His knee has to bend back to 120 deg. Due to pre surgery PT he is at 100 deg. He has no pain. I’m sure that will change in a few days when his meds are done. Or he makes me mad and I hide them. 😂😂

That was yesterday. Today is a different story. Lots of pain. All the meds they gave him for surgery have worn off. He does have a prescription but only for another 3 days. And the therapist comes tomorrow morning. He can’t lift his leg to prop it up. I need to lift it for him to put a rolled towel under his ankle so he can keep it straight and flat when sitting. It might be easier when the wrap comes off tomorrow. He does walk pretty good with the walker. I’m hiding in my office doing taxes tomorrow when the therapist is here.Betty

Glad to hear the surgery went well.! June and I were both going to PT for different reasons. Once the script ran out we continued out of pocket for strength building under the staffs supervision two times a week. Lots of patients with knee replacements. It is amazing how quickly they are able to get their full mobility back. But you really have to be religious about the PT.
We are luck we have a super place 5 minutes away.Rolf

What a morning. The therapists were quite pleased with what he could do. He took the wrap off today and he can walk with the walker with very little pain. It’s getting the leg completely straight that is hard to do. It’s when his brother stopped in that things went off rails. Rolf, we are talking SLRA. He pushes everything to the limit and past. Before all this, he was walking 2-3 miles a day in all weather except heavy rain. He can’t wait until he’s walking again and riding his bike. He is an outdoor person. RJ, a nurse I’m not. 😂🤪Betty

I’ll combine 2 topics in this one. Bruce is doing amazing. He started with the cane inside today and the therapist took him in a 1/2 mile walk. Bandage came off no stitches - crazy glue! Of course the medical version.
2 for 1, 2 damaged vehicles in one accident - both ours! Since Bruce can’t drive I wonder who did it. Pulled the van on the street to get the truck out, was paying attention to what was in front of me, neighbors trash cans across the street, then crunch. Hit left rear tail light on van and huge dent in bumper with right rear fender and bumper of truck. The truck is creased but the black stuff is rubber from the van. Told Bruce to clean it off and won’t be noticeable. Since the van is 2012 and I have a $100 deductible coverage through the dealership on all things except tires, brakes and a few other small things, it’s not going anywhere. Bruce is replacing the taillight and the bumper, oh well. What’s a dent or two? And the beat goes on.Betty

Bruce drove today. He wanted to try it and he was fine. After his therapy we went to the park to walk. He did .6 with his cane and I did a little over a mile. He has a doctor visit Thursday and one last home therapy visit than starts the with “the torture gang”, the same ones who worked on his shoulder. Life is getting back to somewhat normal, whatever that is. I’m tired. Good night.Betty

Bruce took a sharp u-turn Friday that involved a ride to the ER in an ambulance with siren and lights. Took him to patient first as he wasn’t feeling well, shortness of breath, dizzy, etc. They examined him, Covid test was positive, and called the ambulance. Blood results were all over the place. Called son. 2 hours later the paramedic came into the waiting room and said he was doing fine, electrolytes were back to normal. They stayed another hour or so. In MD paramedics have to stay with patient until hospital accepts patient. Son saw my phone and asked who I called at 11:11. Aunt Kelly so she could call everyone with updates. He smiled and said Bruce was going to be fine. 11:11 means the angels are with Bruce and looking over him. 4 hours later we came home. Needs follow up with doctor on Monday. A fib was diagnosis and by the way there’s a prescription for $560 at Walmart. Still there. Doctor will take care of meds tomorrow. Bruce is fine, his leg is great. Think he got Covid from PT, the only place he has been around people. And I woke up with a miserable cold today. So how was your day?Betty

Reply to Wood lampshadeby RolfReally nice work! I personally prefer a Semi gloss or Satin finish. The only time I may use a gloss finish is on some wood turnings.
