This is the tapestry I found in the cedar chest. We can’t identify where the pictures are from. Two among many. I also forgot to mention dad was also in the army Fife and Drum Corps and also played with a big band when he was discharged. Have to find that info.

WAIT! WHAT?? I check fb today and see this “someone you may know.” Ok but the last name is the same as my maiden name. My grandfather had the name changed from the original Russian name by the judge, who took a few letters off. So I look further and my cousin Chris is listed on there, who I have not been able to contact even though he lives in Delaware. Then I remember he married someone and adopted her son. I believe this is Chris’s son. FB has made this a small world.Betty

Haven’t done much since Bruce’s surgery. We do have a picture of Dad in front of a ship, Atlantic City. Everything we are finding doesn’t match the picture we have. My brother is working on all the money with dates & places he found and putting together a time line. I always knew dad was organized but this surprises me. I guess his patience keeping everything organized prepared him for having me as a daughter. I pushed him to the limit more than once. I can still hear him saying YOU’RE MOVING WHERE? YOU DID WHAT? YOU BOUGHT WHAT? And more than once DO YOU LNOW WHAT TIME IT IS? Same things I said to my kids.Betty

WE FOUND THE SHIP! After reading the info I sent last night, Stephen looked through dad's papers again and found a ship #221380 dad signed onto on 1/1/46, his birthday. Built in 1921, Chickasaw Shipbuilding & Car co, Chickasaw, AL, ATLANTA City, not Atlantic City, Owner US Steel Products. After the stock crash in 1929, the shipping industry changed. Beghan Isthmain Lines bought the Atlanta City New York, US Flag, in Service 1930 ended 1950. Was renamed Meir Dizengoff, Israel Flag, 1956 Neptune, Panamanian Flag and 1959 Marina D, Panamanian Flag.. Now to find the ports of call dad stopped at while on that ship. May explain some of the money. On to the next trip Dad is taking us on!Last edited by will8989; 02-24-2023, 12:21 PM.Betty

Reply to Wood lampshadeby RolfReally nice work! I personally prefer a Semi gloss or Satin finish. The only time I may use a gloss finish is on some wood turnings.
