  • A new toy.

I purchased a new toy today. A recurve bow kit and half a doz. arrows. I got by with less than $200 bucks. I swung by Home Depot and got a 4x8x2" sheet of foam board cut in half for 4x4. I'll use that for a target backer, arrow catcher.
The bow is only 25lb draw so this old guy can have fun with it.

If I were to shoot, I would need a bigger backer

I measured off 10 yards and started slinging. easy enough to hit the 4x4 backer and close to the coffee can lid I stuck to it. 18 shots and that was enough for a few hours. Cripes, I'm getting old.

Once upon a time ( in the 70's) i attempted bow hunting. I believe the bow had a 45 pound draw. I quickly learned that it was not for me. It takes lot of hard work and practice just to be fair at it. Good is a whole different level. I hope you do better than I did.

A few weeks ago Elliott was looking around and saw a bow and arrows in the rafters in the basement. PopPop I didn’t know you had a bow and arrow. I don’t. It’s Mimi’s. Been a long time since I used it. Maybe I should get it out again.

Well, yesterday, I shot my 18 in the morning. The grands came over and I got one of em to try it out. I had to demonstrate so I got another 12 or so in. Last night I finished up with 90 for the day. Going to challenge myself to one hundred arrows a day for one hundred days. Made an excel spreadsheet and everything. Gona get gud.
The spread sheet is the busy work that usually takes up most of the time in projects of self improvement efforts.

Weell, I was shooting my 9 arrows at the target at the archery store indoor range. I was slinging 180 arrows a day four or five days a week. The coach at the store told me to knock it off and to slow down. I will admit my upper back wasn't very happy with me so I'm slowing down. At his "suggestion", I'll shoot three arrows, rest a couple minutes and another three. Not as much fun but will give it a try. I have improved on the 20 yards targets. I was getting just less than one percent in the yellow, now I'm inconsistently getting above that. progress.

Scott, I was referring to her pms to Bill Wilson and Quartz. They posted her reply by pms instead of on here.
Would be nice Quartz. I asked got Bob to put the issue next tp patterns and he said something about real estate. He found a way to do it and didn’t lose any real estate. Guess they don’t...

I would be pleased if FC at least did a trial of printing A pattern on regular sized text and also providing a scale up factor. Their resistance to do anything if a real pain. It was a similar lack of action with the website that resulted in lost viewers.

I think Kelly did that because I wrote a letter to the editor complaining about an article in the last addition. It was the article about staying connected online and it didn't mention the FC forum....

The fastest I've ever seen one of those 3d deer cuts was by Rick Hutcheson. That man was super fast when we was working the shows.
