  • Need suggestions or a bit of guidance

Our Minister of three years is being relocated, it breaks our heart as she really is a very special person. That said I have made a gift for her, a small bird house.
The body is from a black walnut tree that was recently cut down behind out sanctuary. the rest is spalted maple.
I added a base so that it does not need to be hung.
What I need help with is a short note that I will burn on the bottom of the base. I wrote this. "You will be in our Hearts and Minds forever" but not crazy about it. Bird house with base.jpg Birdhouse.jpg

Depending on the sense of humor, "Birdie says, 'We will miss you' "

Or, just something simple like "You will be missed" with the name of the church and date.

No matter where you fly, you will always have a home here (or in our hearts) church name

beautiful piece and extra meaning with the wood from the tree no doubt she will treasure it. I always hate when they move a beloved minister.

Your inspiration will always be with us, as we (and a piece of our sanctuary) will be with you.

              Beautiful work Rolf.
I can't add to the suggestions already made. They are all good ones.

Thank you all for your suggestions. This is what we decided on, a slight variation on what Melanie wrote. I am saving all of these sentiments for future projects . I did this with my small desktop laser. Used Lightburn software.Birdhouse base.jpg

Glad to be of some help on that Rolf - I can never think of what to put on my own projects! Looks very nice and I am sure she will treasure it. That is what I got my laser for - to do things like this that really can't be done with the scroll saw.

Beautiful! I see that you are using that laser again. I'm still pondering that area too.

For me to write something like this with my woodburner, even with the fine ball tip pens, is just not possible for me. The variations in the wood grain really complicate things.
The laser doesn't care about grain.

Scott, I was referring to her pms to Bill Wilson and Quartz. They posted her reply by pms instead of on here.
Would be nice Quartz. I asked got Bob to put the issue next tp patterns and he said something about real estate. He found a way to do it and didn’t lose any real estate. Guess they don’t...

I would be pleased if FC at least did a trial of printing A pattern on regular sized text and also providing a scale up factor. Their resistance to do anything if a real pain. It was a similar lack of action with the website that resulted in lost viewers.

I think Kelly did that because I wrote a letter to the editor complaining about an article in the last addition. It was the article about staying connected online and it didn't mention the FC forum....
