Smokey Mountains Carving Shops

The family and I are going to the Smokies for vacation.I know one day will be tied up at Dollywood,so the kids can enjoy themselves.Does anyone know of any carving shops in the area that are open to the public? I'm hoping to find some shops nearby.I was in the area once before and went to some shops, but can't remember much about the places. Any and all replies would be greatly appreciated. Groozier, Its not a carving shop, but about 20 miles north of Dollywood is a little town called Sevierville. On the highway between Sevierville and Knoxville, just north of Sevierville you will find Smoky Mountain Knife works. Not much to be had for buying carvings but they do carry a few carving knives and A LOT of sharpening suppies. This store is HUGE and they have a lot of intersting museum displays on knives and swords through the ages. They have a lot of the ususal tourist items that the rest of the family might enjoy, too.

In Townsend, TN, you'll find a great shop by the name of Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Supply. It's about a 25 minute drive from Pigeon Forge. Take Wears Valley Rd. from Pigeon Forge to Townsend; when you get to the T-intersection at Townsend, turn right and drive about 3 miles. It's on the right. I think you'll find it's worth the trip. The Wood Whittlers Complex across from Battles Grocery in Gatlinburg has some of the best from the area carvers,and even some from the Branson area

I've been to the Mountain State festival several times, and it's a real experience. You'll get great food, see great art, demonstrations of glass blowing and knife making, and have a great time. It's only real drawback is the location. There's no place to stay overnight within about 1,000 miles (maybe that's a lie). Lots' of folks come in motor homes and campers. If you got in that show, you had to be good.

Yep!
I also went to the Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Supply in Townsend Tenn. while on vacation in Gatlinburg.
I spent so much money we had to go home early ! which was ok cause it gave me time to play with the new chisels i bought !
