I bought some of the Japanese tools also xx got the small 8 gouges and the small V tools. Am totally please with them. Good tools at two or three times the price.

I can live with the plastic handle. I just expected a nice ash handle like their other tools. I can over look a lot because of the way the tools work.

Those power handle Japanese made tools are really nice also. I only have a stub of a thumb on my right hand and, I can hold them much better than any other shape. I wish they made them in a better variety of size and shape.

Lorax, Thanks for bring up that Flexcut slipstrop. I wondered if that idea worked well and if Santacarvinlady likes it it must must be good. I think I saw my 'santalady' hiding a box set of Flexcut Palm tools. I noticed a few weeks ago my Hummel Flyer with the cirlced pages had moved from my side of the bathroom then came back a day later. That was a big clue.

Way off the subject but here's a secret for hiding Christmas presents. Put the presents that you do not want found in the emtpy boxes that held the Christmas Decorations. nobody will look in there.

It's actually made of wood with leather glued to it. I use it for all my Flexcut blades - it works great.

There is nothing more satisfying than finding a tool(s) that youre comfortable using, and work well.

Hey Butch, they used to make a wooden handle, you might look around if thats what you want. I also saw that they came out with a sharpening strop that fits their gouge profiles. I think it is a hard rubber.

I normally don't do this but, I am so pleased that I wanted to tell someone. I just recieved an order from Wood Carvers Supply which included a Flexcut travel kit and three power handle v-tools. None of these tools needed to be sharpened. They all just slice right thru the wood. Even on the end grain. Never bought any tools that didn't require at least some sharpening. The travel kit has just about anything you might need ( ten gouges ). Would be a great set for beginners. Sharp and ready to go. The only draw back is that the handle for the gouge set is plastic. Kind of put me off at first but after I used them, I forgot about it.

I mailed my order the 14th and got it this evening. Just great service.
