Re: Riffler Files
I also have a little sliver metal holder that holds carving burrs, one in each end. I keep it out all the time (away from the edges of my gouges) on my bench and use it when necessary to clean as I go. In one end, I have a round diamond burr. In the other, I have a tear drop shaped one (I use it the most.) They never clog.
I find this tool to be most useful.

I just bought a few rifflers, after hearing about them on this board. I got the very fine ones - and wow, they ARE wonderful for doing cleanup, etc.

This a catalog that I used to get; I haven't received it for a while. It used to have anvils, swage-blocks, tongs, hammers and even tools for your hardy hole.

Re: Riffler Files
If you ever get to carving harder woods like maple or cherry you'll really appreciate those rifflers

Yes they do fill up, but if you keep a small brass bristle brush handy, no problem.

I've used rifflers on almost all my carvings; mostly for clean-up work in tight spots. I have not tried the diamond rifflers yet, but plan to pick a set up the next time I'm in a carving store! Have heard they work better than the steel ones. The coarde ones, I have trouble working with as they are too small to hang onto when pushing those BIG teeth around. They are not a substitute for any knives or gouges, but an adjunct to the other tools. Try 'em you'll like 'em!
Also try checkering tools for background in relief, etc.

Riffler Files
Does anybody use Riffler Files ? Do they work ? I see them advertized but have never heard anybody mention using them.. I have used files on metal but would think they would 'clog up' when used on wood. ???Tags: None

by Quartz43+1 on NC Scroller's suggestions. I would add that on appropriate patterns stop using the grey as it would make it easier to copy.
It says a lot if Fox Publishing does not comment on an issue like this. Even if they said they are aware that people have concerns and are looking into it...-

Reply to YoraHome Laser w/CNC Engraver/Routerby evilbadgerHere is the thread from when I was building it. I gave up trying to post photos on this forum. After they updated to the new format it no longer automatically resizes photos like it use to, I know I could resize everything on my own but the forum isn't as active as it use to be so why bother.

by markdavdThere are a lot of good points brought up here. Some may be easy to correct, others not so much. As far as Fox Chapel replying to this thread, I am trying to imagine a response that would not have made at least some people upset.
As far as the pattern size in the books, I believe the physical...-

by NC ScrollerI often resize just to fit the size of the wood I have on hand. I agree this is a no win situation because of the various software, hardware differences plus the skill level of us, the end users. Even providing the patterns in a digitized format will no fix this because of the reasons I already mentioned....
