    Re: wooden bases

    Woody, Callynne, and Dave E,
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll check them out over the weekend when I have more time.

Making bases reminds me of a sign I saw once at a craft show. 'Sure you could make it yourself for less $, but WILL you.' Sometimes time is harder to come by to make bases than just giving in and buying some that are already cutout, sanded, and finished--ready to use!

I'll let you know what I find out. If anyone else knows of other suppliers, let us know.

you might also look in any local craft store, most of them have sections of wood products which while not specifically meant as a base could easily be used for such. just a thought.

Donna, two places I have seen bases are in my Little Shavers and MDI catalogs. MDI has the biggest selection, finished and unfinished and different shapes. I don't know if they have any shown on their website, the address is www.mdiwoodcarvers.com if you want to check it out or order their catalog if you don't get it.
Rick at Little Shavers, address [email protected] would be a good person to check with too. I only see a couple round and oval bases in their catalog but he's good at helping you find what you're looking for. Let us know how you make out, I for one will be most interested, a few of the carvings I have drawn up for this year will require bases and not making my own would be a real time saver. Good luck! wooden bases

I'm looking for finished wood bases of various sizes and shapes that I can use when I don't have time to make my own. I know there's a place back EAST because I talked to a carver recently who mentioned it, but he couldn't remember the name or place. I haven't seen any advertised in Chip Chats or anywhere else.

Any help? Sure would appreciate the info.
    Thanks
    Donna T

Without the complete schematic it is hard to know what is correct.
That said, it is a multispeed blower that obviously has a controller board. That board varies the power to the motor. By doing what you did you bypassed that. You put power across the low and high windings. If any thing connecting...

If he connected to red and black and the motor spun wouldn't that indicate the motor is grounded? Without connecting the white the circuit isn't complete and the motor should not spin.

The reason for the smoke is incorrect wiring, posible melted insulation between motor windings and motor frame.

You mentioned connecting power to the red & and black wire. Did you do anything with White wire? Per the lable on the motor the black wire is high the Red is low. White common...
