We have not seen the sun in many days. Lots of snow and horrible winds. I got stuck in my driveway yesterday coming home. Hopefully I can plow my way out today. Hubby is gone to the city as he does snow removal there. He will be away for at least another 3 days. Sidewalks and streets must be cleaned. Of course I am knee deep in the stuff and will not get cleaned until he comes back home. I hate winter. Snow drifts are bad.
I have my valentine roses on the kitchen table to keep me company.

Very beautiful flowers Carl. It is raining here today and snow in the mountains for the skiers. Thats the way I like it. We are supposed to have nice weather for the weekend though. It will be a little while before we see the flowers, but at least the coldest part of the winter is past us and we can look forward to better weather.
Well if it IS around the corner ... it's playing "hide and seek" here. I am so ready for spring and all that comes with it.
I was going to head off to the "big city" nearest to me today, but NO! once again my plans are shot because of snow squalls and accidents, and highways closed.
I am grateful though, I wasn't on the highway before I found out. LOL
I look at it this way. The couple weeks is pay back from Mother Nature Most of us in the eastern US and Canada have had a nice mild winter up to now. This is Mother Natures way to remind us she is still the one in charge. I just can't figure out whay she has to be so cranky (LOL).
I am very jealous of the flowers out already! I used to live in Squamish BC and miss not having any snow. Where I am now it is nearly waist deep in my front yard and my son has made some really big sliding hills in the driveway from the snow plow! What a difference in the weather! At the rate we're going I'm going to have snow im my yard until August!!!
I can hardly wait.We live a hours drive west of Ottawa it has been cold for the better part of Feb.When we look out our kitchen window we see a pool covered in snow.It won't be long and I will be opening it for the year.Bring on the hot humid weather. It's better than snow in my books.
Our spring should arrive in about 2 1/2 to 3 more months, then all Alaskans will break out their shorts and blind one another with their pasty skin.
...for a couple weeks then it's back to the parkas and mukluks!
I don't really mind the snow. The forklifts can't get around the yard in it and if they can't move the finished product from the production area, production gets shut down. Lost three days last week to the snow and the whole week before due to frozen water lines.

There's a fine line between woodworking and insanity, I'm just not sure which side of the line I'm on!
This is the first time in weeks that we are waking up to warmer temps than Anchorage Alaska. Recently, I've seen it warmer in Anchorage than in Missouri, where my brother lives. It's been a strange winter. As far as spring being around the corner, it's an awful wide corner. However, we are suppose to get above freezing this week. This will be a real treat. The lakes just 120 miles north of us, have 28 - 30 inches of ice on them. That's thick ice.
You did a beautiful job with it. Great paintwork! I can see Carving the prop out of one piece considering the grain direction changes etc. was a challenge.
By the way, I did not follow the dimensions exactly as I just used scrap wood that was lying around and scaled to fit - also, for the propeller, I decided to make it from a single block - that turned out to be slightly more difficult than first imagined... but it works!

I stumbled across this site by accident while looking to keep my idle hands busy as I was hunting for easy whirligig patterns. I found some old plans by Mr Paul Meisel from about 10 years ago about a P31 Mustang here https://scrollsawer.com/2009/08/28/ai...
