Yep!!! Ruger MK2 Competetion Target. I have a lot of good ol' American greenbacks in the trigger alone in that little pistol!! I don't shoot animals anymore but I love poppin' holes in bullseyes just for recreation. I don't know what kind of wood it is...possibly Cocobolo. My friend uses a lot of that in custom pool cues and recurve bows that he builds. He gave me several nice pieces of various woods but unfortunately I didn't ask him to identify what he gave me. I have a nice little 9mm Beretta parabellum that I want to make some custom grips for also. First time I've tried that particular kind of woodworking and it's nice to build something both functional and pleasing to the eye for a change.

Those are some awesome looking grips. I would imagine they would definitely be marketable. What kind of wood is that?

Nice grips Neal, those little Ruger Mark IIs(?) are dandy guns for grouse. I think the blood letting may have been worth it.

Pistil Grips

Here's what I was working on when I sanded my thumb. Got this side shaped and fitted. Just have to make the other side and then sand and finish!!!

If you take a look at the pink spot on the first joint of my thumb you'll see it's not the first encounter I've had with that little beast!! Just healed up from that one and wrecked again!!!

Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

I use my bench-top belt sander with 180 grit paper to remove dried CA glue from my fingers.
I just don't turn it on!

It really hurts those sandpaper burns. guaranteed to get a small infection too. sure hope that doesn't happen to me again too soon.

I've been bit a few times like that myself. My worst problem is when I am driving a screw with my power drill and the screw tips and the driver bit bites my thumb. OUCH!

Ouch, Neal that looks like it was enough to actually stink up the shop.

You make a good point about bolting equipment down, everything in my shop is bolted to a bench for a few reasons, one being the safety aspect.

Went to the shop yesterday for the first time since well before Christmas. A friend gave me a box of cut-offs from a variety of exotic woods and I thought I'd make a set of custom grips for one of my target pistols. I bought this sander a while back and decided not to bolt it to the bench so I could move it around. Well...it moved!!! I learned that wood ain't all this little sander sands!!!
