  • "Gravity"

Has anyone else seen this yet? I caught it yesterday afternoon, and it was really good. I usually go cheap, and buy just a regular ticket these days, and pass on the 3D stuff (most of which I find distracting), but after watching this movie, I regretted not seeing it in three dimensions. In fact, I kind of want to go back and catch it on an IMAX.

Great special effects and very solid acting and suspense make for a nice movie.....check it out! I can't say much more about it without revealing spoilers.

This movie critic gives it a solid thumbs up.

Hey Shawn - is there any truth in the rumor that you spend all of your spare time at the movies - LOL!

'Gravity' has been getting a lot of hype on the news/entertainment channels in my neck of the woods, in particular for sticking to a good level of scientific based realism in the CGG effects. I'll definitely be looking out for it coming to the 3D screens locally. I just hope they show the English version here as well as the often poorly translated Spanish one.

PS - only one downside to the movie for me. I prefer to see Sandra Bullock in a bikini rather than in that all encompassing space suit - but that's just my fading testosterone whim

I won't deny that rumor at all, Jim! I admit, though, I don't go nearly as much as I used to. I think my last movie was Pacific Rim this summer, so that's a long stretch for this theater lover.

Probably even more so because the director is Mexican (Alfonso Cuaron). In fact, between his stuff, and Guillermo Del Torro (see Pacific Rim above), there is a heck of a lot of cinema talent coming out of Mexico these days.

I don't think I would be revealing a spoiler, Jim, if I mention that there is a scene where Sandra is shown with her spacesuit off, under which she has a tank top and skimpy shorts. This has come under fire from the NASA folks, however, as apparently in real life, she would have an ugly looking water filled tube-suit under her space suit, in addition to wearing adult diapers. The folks in Hollywood must have determined that this would not make Bullock the most appealing she could be.

Thanks for letting me know your opinion. I've been thinking I'd like to see it but was put off by it being only 90 minutes in length. I may try and find time to see it this week.

It is on my list of movies to see BUT I can not see it in 3D because the 3D causes pretty severe migraines. We are hoping to see it later in the week.... in regular 2D

I think it is funny that you guys love to see Sandra Bullock in skimpy clothes.... I think Clooney is pretty HOT too.

Normally, I'd agree, Mike, as I usually like the more epic-length movies. But 90 minutes worked well for this one, plus it got us home in time to get the kids off the bus.

I saw Avatar in 3d and it was amazing. I would have paid double.

I'll admit that it takes alot for a movie to impress me. I was disappointed with the movie. To me, it was predictable and, I agree, it seemed short.

                      Hey Shawn

Kev has decided that this is a must go visit film for his dad to take him to see - it's just entered our local movie houses in town. Of course he's a bit bias since he's been playing the iPad game version of the movie for the past couple of weeks which has pretty good graphics. Seems like these franchise folks have worked really fast on spreading this movie around.

About 26 years ago or a little more I made this Ladys Work Basket which I still have and use every day. I use it as a medicine box and I keep it on my kitchen counter. It is still in excellent condition and is made from close to 40 pieces of wood. The plans I got from "Cherry Tree" https:...

Yesterday was amazing to see someone ring the bell after beating cancer. When we left we walked to our cars and had our arms around each others shoulders. I told her this was the best party I have ever been to. I found this message on my phone this morning “I am such a blessed woman. I was so excited....
