I know I haven't been around much but there's been a reason. About 1 month ago I was "invited" by unemployment to attend an informational meeting about setting up your own business. I went 2 weeks ago, yes I used the lightrail all by myself and didn't get lost in downtown Baltimore, and was given a 4 page application at the end of the meeting. This is a fed/state program for unemployed people collecting unemployment, of which I am one, for running your own business. In addition to the 4 page application, you could submit up to a 10 page business/hobby resume. Do you know how long it takes to get 10 pages together?
Anyway, all the info was finally gathered into one place and typed & retyped Tues & Wed and mailed today!! The original mailing was to 3,000, of the 1,000 that responded 300 were invited to the meeting, of that 300, 67 will be invited for 4 hour interview for 24 slots. Classes are twice a week for 4 hours each with 14 hours homework a week. BUT the best part is, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK FOR A JOB WHILE YOU ARE IN THE CLASSES! And you can earn any amount of money without being penalized on your unemployment. Aside from that, it is really a great course, with things like market planning, research at Enoch Pratt Library, Tech courses, Advertising & Promotional Strategies, Financial Overview - you need to draw up a 3 year financial projection, Legal Entities, I plan on having lots of copyright questions for that one (if I make it), Tax questions, Certification Procurement (whatever that is), and Business Planning. So you can see, I really really want to get into this course so any and all good wishes will be appreciated!! When I showed the finished work to my husband, he said "Gee, I didn't know you were that good."!! Now I hope it just sells me to the lady in charge!! One of the interview questions will be what is my mission statement and goals. I'm working on that now just incase! All good thoughts are appreciated!!
