  • Forum software still acting up - update Jun 6

Not so much a complaint - just to keep the tekkies informed that the forum software is still not working as it should do.

This morning I found the speed on the forum to be very variable. Sometimes very slow to open pages, sometimes up to regular speed but apparently not performing as we expect it to.

Shortly after logging in and reading a couple of threads I posted one of my own and attached to the post 3 images. Usually I link to images hosted on my domain server but today I decided to post them using the forum 'manage attachments' option.

When I hit the manage attachment button, instead of the image file upload panel being displayed up came a panel showing the forum home page and the now familiar error message to say I wasn't logged in to the forum and the option for me to log in. I did this despite already being logged in and my 'second' log in was accepted and the image file upload panel appeared and I was able to upload the files and post my message.

In summary, it seems like the double log in problem is still rearing its head and maybe the forum is occasionally choking itself which is affecting the page refreshes and general navigation.

I hope these comments help the tekkies sort out the problems

I tried replying to a thread this morning and got the double log in again.

I took a screenshot this time so maybe it will help sort out this issue. Looking at the picture you can see I am logged in but it seems like the page times itself out.

Hi Tim - I just had exactly they same situation again a few minutes back after trying to reply to a thread.

Maybe we should stay in bed a bit longer on a Sunday morning and let the forum wake up before trying to post?

Hi guys... Thanks for keeping us informed... looks like there was a back-up running that got a little stuck. We are working on some major restructuring (hardware and software) to get rid of (hopefully) most of the issues that have been popping up. It's still in planning and we will be getting some expert assistance along the way. Unfortunately, we're not exactly sure when this will be scheduled.

          Thanks rottier for the update

It seems like the biggest problem at the moment is double login I mentioned which has happened to me twice again this morning, once when trying to post a private message reply and once in a thread reply. I also noticed yesterday that one of my replies posted twice - ie posted a duplicate and I also edited out what seems to have been the same type of duplicate post by another member.

Despite these hiccups your efforts have got the forum back up to speed which is what I guess frustrates most members and with a bit of patience the double login can be tolerated until it gets sorted out. My main concern would be that new members might well be put off by forum glitches, not being familiar with the problems we have been having.

Thanks for all the behind the scenes work.

He puts biscuts between the long pieces, is that what you meant? He has stainless screws in the lips then puts the plugs on top of that. Scott, cutting one doesn’t take long. It’s the removing of the tiny drill hole, spraying each piece with distilled water, letting dry, sanding and sometimes flap...

Like Bob said clamp a straight edge to the table and adjust it to compensate for the blade drift. There are some blades that have no or very little drift. Like the Olson PGT series it also seems to me that the Pegas MGT 3 or larger cut very straight....

I now you do beautiful work but I have to say your attention to details on these baskets is impressive. soft smooth edges, no visible glue squeeze out. And of course the cutting boards are beautiful. I am guessing that Bruce cut a spline in the end of the board and then dowels. I have not seen that...
