  • Valid Email? PLEASE READ IMPORTANT!!!

Well I don't know where to post this but I know they don't consider gmail and hotmail valid emails but i do ot have any other emails. so i guess i wont b here any longer. i had this prob at other sites and then found this one. now the sign is still flashing and its telling me to change my email. i went in there and resaved the gmail one. so I dont know what else to do. I also didnt know there was a rule I had to post every 4 weeks but its telling me about that too. I have a disabled husband and i cant b here unless i have a question.

Bob for the update. I am relieved to learn we were not compromised.

To update your e-mail simply click on the "USERCP" link on the little blue bar near the top of any page. Then look toward the left and you will see "edit e-mail password" click on that.

Enter your current password in the top box. Unless you want to change your password. Their seems to be some confusion, this is just your password not your user ID, I have had several members ask me why it would not accept their user Id? This is your password you use everyday to log in not your user name.

Ignore the next 2 boxes where it asks for new password and confirm new password Unless you want to change your password..

Confirm the default email that shows is correct and click on "save changes".

You should be fine for now, then in a few days you will get an e-mail at the address you have just confirmed and just follow the directions given in that e-mail. Thank you for your understanding.

      Keep us informed, thanks.

        Hey gang,
We were not hacked; but like Mike knows, we're banning some 200+ spammers a day. This is one of the anti-spam countermeasures.

I'm not sure why gmail is not valid. I'm checking into that.

        Best Regards,

I'm seeing the message also and I don't use gmail or hotmail. I have provided a dial-up email account that I opened years ago & is still valid. Do I need to update my email?

Bob, am I supposed to give you a valid e-mail address or not? Like Mike, I don't like the typos and grammatical errors in the flashing message. Not typical of the quality of this site.

              Hi George,
Unfortunately, the leading expert in V-bulletin is from Pakistan. I've not figured out how to correct his grammer yet. I'd just verify that the e-mail address you have on record for the forum is valid through the UserCP. As I find out more, I'll let you know. You just need to be able to still access the e-mail account when the forum sends you a verification e-mail.

Me too brother...I hope it helps because the better part of each day is used banning new members who are spammers. These are not to be confused with the new friends we get each day who join.

                    Ok followed what Mike said

I went into user cp and clicked on email password update came up. i left my email in there exactly as it was at gmail. then i just entered my current password not changing it and then clicked save. i didn't get any messages saying invalid but the message is still flashing above. so i'm assuming everthing will b ok. I will wait on the email from the site. Thanks Karen

Another forum I frequent has the spammer issue where people join and put up one post that sometimes borders on porn. Someone told me it had to do with getting links for a website to increase some kind of score for ranking.

Glad I don't have Mike and BobD job.

So I take it the message under the Notice at the top of this and other pages is legit? It's asking me to update my profile by providing a valid email and that they will be confirming that email in a few days.

                          BobD / Mike,

Another forum Router Forums - Router and Woodworking Discussion Community has a policy that a person has to comment on 10 existing posts before being able to actually post. That is suppose to keep the majority of spammers away. Might want to contact them to see if it works.

                              Just a thought.

Why not just validate all users with less than xx posts. I sure would hate to loose valuable members who do not reply to emails. (I monitor a few groups and there are many more who will not reply than do)

                              anyway my 2 cents
