  • Apologies and a surprise

Hi folks - just want to say sorry to folks waiting to see what Frieke and I conjured up as a joint collaboration scrolling project over Easter. The project is nothing special, just a bit of fun which started out really simple and has had me tearing my hair out the past week trying to get to it to finish my part. With only two weeks to go before I head out of Italy for home in Mexico I've been literally up to the neck in issues both at work and trying to sort my apartment out ready to vacate it and just can't seem to finish the project. I also ran into some technical issues with it which I'll mention later. Hopefully by the weekend I'll have it done.

The surprise - I don't have to sell up everything in the apartment just yet because I've just been asked to come back here in September through to Christmas. This time I'll be organizing a mid term break to bring the family out here for a couple of weeks which will be really nice. So, I guess I can now look forward to a few more adventures to parts of Italy that I didn't get to visit this time around. Have ceramist, will travel!

PS - I'll still be taking half of the Dewalt I bought in Italy back to Mexico with me so I can get to do some precision scrolling over the summer. The table is staying here so that I can reduce my check in baggage weight by 22 lbs! After being told it would cost be 70 USD to parcel post it home with the risk of customs playing silly beggars with it I decided it would be easier to make a new table in Mexico. I'll maybe get Norma to take it back later on when she comes out here - you think? - LOL!

    Stay tuned!

I can't say much. I once drove 50 miles to watch my daughter's track meet and got there, only to see 'E' where the number of photos was to be displayed. So, I had to drive about 10 more miles and pay a very high price for another card.

I agree, a beautiful piece and wonderful cutting. Years ago, my father had Alzheimer. The last six months we had him in the VA center in St. Cloud MN. His wood work shop is still in MN. I could not take it down to TN....

I have been using spiral a lot more lately Thanks to Charles Hand stunning designs. I have used them of and on since I started scrolling.
They were a real challenge on my Old Delta SS350. cutting straight in and out was easy, trying to cut details going sideways was the problem because of the...

The best tip I have with spirals is to cut straight lines backwards. instead of pushing the work piece into the blade, pull it toward you. Seems to allow for better control on straight lines (most other lines too)

🍷🍷MD is a cluster mess. Getting the vaccine is fast. Getting the appointment is another story altogether. The county executive makes the rules for their own county. State says 65+ the jerk that runs this county says no, 75+ then puts a whole bunch of people on a priority list. But, there are state...
