  • Off to Brussels this weekend!

As a good number of forum members already know, I've been invited by our forum friend Freike to hop over from Italy to Belgium during the Easter weekend and spend a few days with her. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity of meeting up with Eric, her professional cabinetmaker better half, her two 'Brussel sprouts' Naomi and Nikita, and of course the lovely lady herself.

This past weekend I was sorting out my travel clothes and seeing as we've been hitting temperatures in the low 80's F here in northern I Italy I was looking forward to some nice spring weather in Belgium. Unfortunately my hopes of that seem to have been dashed. The 7 day forecast for Brussels is predicting weekend temperatures of around 25F at night to a maximum 45F during the day, with a good possibility of rain.

Despite this I know that I will be getting a warm welcome and no amount of rain will dampen our get together. So Frieke, I'll be there soon.

Just in case you have trouble spotting me at the airport here's a photo of what I'll look like

Btw - in case anyone thinks I'm the joker here this is the image that Frieke sent me over the weekend of her and Eric so that I could spot them.

I can see this weekend is going to be a barrel of fun!

I was wondering when you were going to make that trip.
I am sure you will post some pictures and give Frieke a hug for all of us!

Hey Frieke - you've got me so embarrassed by your excitement and the prospects of meeting the family and you and getting to use your workshop that I had a rush of blood to the head tonight, put the table back on my Yellah and have been cutting my first scroll saw project in months to find out if I can still follow a line!

Tonight I drew up and am cutting a pattern idea which has been bugging me for a while which I hope you will help me decorate. I'm not saying exactly what it is at the moment except that its a flighty project which will hopefully balance my scrolling with your woodburning skills.

So start guessing what I have in store for you. I hope later that we can post it on the forum as a joint collaboration project!

                Cya soon!

PS - Should I bring bananas for a mid morning brunch at the airport?

Let's see if I can keep this straight:

A Brit from Mexico, currently AWOL in Italy is getting bananas shipped in from Costa Rica to take to Belgium?

Small world. (Think this internet thing will ever catch on?)

Sounds like you two are just going to have a wonderful time, but the first stop is likely to be at the mega store to get some winter clothes!
