Has anyone had an attack of Vertigo? I have an inter cranial infection and it's really messing up my balance. I woke up Sunday night with the room spinning and I bumped my way to the bathroom and was sick. Made it back to bed only to have to run again. Went to Urgentcare where they gave me a shot of fenigrin (sp) and nothing else. Went to my Dr. where he ordered an MRI and diagnosed the infection. I'm on strong antibiotics and a water pill. Haven't been able to work this week and the dr said I may not be able to go next week. The vomiting was passed, but now it's back bad again. May have to go for another fenigrin shot. My poor wife has to do everything for me now. My middle son almost carried me down our steps to the car on Monday. Good to have a son 6'5 and strong as a horse!

Thanks for letting me sound off.

Yeah Charles, I know what you're going through. I have an inner ear disease called meniere's. I've been flat on my back and unable to move, sick to stomach and unable to focus on anything to keep the spinning room stable. Fortunately for me I've had short doses of this but for some it continues and doesn't stop.
I know how helpless you feel and out of control. However the Doc's will find relief for you and you can return to normal. I'm praying for you!

The Dr asked me if I've ever been diagnosed with Meniere's, I told him no. He's a new Dr for me, my old Dr moved out of state.

Mine's continued since Sunday! It's hard to function. I hate depending on anyone for anything.

Thanks for the prayers. Hopefully it won't last much longer.

I hope you get over it soon. It's quite frightening to lose your balance and not be able to move. I had vertigo for a short time, many years ago. But it was sporadic, and since I never knew when it would occur, I was afraid to do anything like get on a ladder or change a ceiling light bulb while it happened. Just turning over in bed made the room spin. I never went to the doctor and thus don't know what caused it.

Had a similar incident last Oct. Got dehydrated and was hospitalized for 4 days. Had all the tests--MRI, CAT, etc., no definite diagnoses other than possible severe vertigo. Hope you get better, I know it is a completely helpless feeling.

I guess I was lucky. They found the infection in the first MRI. They originally thought I had a stroke, but the lady doing the MRI asked if I could stand being in there a little longer because she had another test she'd like to run and that's when she found the infection. The antibiotics, water pill and Valium (for stability) are working, just not as fast as I want it to work. Don't know if I can go to work next week either.

I have a mild case of it since I am deaf in one ear.
But it helped to refuse a on site DUI test because of it.
              Breath test proved negative.

Mine is so bad, I can't even see good enough to drive. My hand and eye coordination is messed up. I would be very dangerous behind the wheel of my car! Still very dizzy just walking. I would definitely be considered a DUI.

Carles, See I can't even spell my own name.

Hi Charles - My wife Norma occasionally suffers from bouts of dizzyness akin to vertigo. She is deaf in one ear from birth having also suffered from Meniere's Disease similar to wedo. What really screws her up is when she gets a bad head cold which blocks the pressure relieving canal from her good inner ear. Then the room really starts to spin! Fortunately though she suffers nothing like as bad as you describe and usually a decongestant and a lie down in a darkened room for a while usually sorts her out.

                  You have my sympathy.

It would not hurt to see an ear nose and throat dr. My neighbor have simular symptoms and it seems that there are crystals in your ears that can get out of place and will cause them. P.T. helped him.... It was after an emergency room visit with a bad infection (staph) that gave him the ear problem to begin with.

Then again your dr. probably has already investigated this I bet.

My mom has Meniere's disease. She's had symptoms like yours. Thank God, they go away in time. I hope you have a very speedy recovery and are able to work very soon! Take good care of yourself!

Thanks, It's a little better today. Don't know if I can go back to work next week either. Last night was REALLY bad. I couldn't get around the house without my wife's help. We went to my sister-in-law's yesterday which really made me dizzy. That could have been the problem last night. My wife is insisting I go back to the Dr. tomorrow! We'll see who wins tomorrow!

Back to the Dr today. More antibiotics! Had to take FMLA today. Dr. said next step is antibiotics by IV if these don't do the job. I now have 7 different prescriptions to take. If not better next week, here come the IV. I'm still not stable enough to drive and the motion of driving makes me too dizzy and sick. Hopefully the steroids will help.

Thanks, but they didn't work! I go to see an Ear, Nose, Throat specialists on Wednesday. She specializes in Vertigo. The Physical Therapy lady said there's not much more she can do. Just hope the ENT can do something. I really miss not being able to do any woodwork.

I have good success treating the wood with spry shellac before cutting. There will not be a problem painting the pieces with craft paint over the shellac. As previously said, just be sure to keep the paint off of the cut edges. If you want to seal the craft paint, a light spray coat...

This is the puzzle, for some reason I usualy make my puzzels with thicker stock, sometimes 3/4 oak or pine or poplar. I have made puzzels in the past I just wanted to get some fresh ideas on blades and finish. I like the idea of applying shellac first that is if the paint sitll covers...

No more waiting for weeks to start therapy. The sooner you use the replacement the better. Bruce was doing mild hand exercises the day after his surgery and bending slightly at the elbow. They expected him in pt for at least 6-9 months. He stopped in February and is doing home therapy, like lifting...
