  • Using silicone spray instead of tape.

I found a way not to use tape anymore. I was using silicone spray on the garage door rollers. It came to me, why not using the spray on the pattern and see if the wood still would leave burn marks.
The silicone on the tape helps to release friction.
I had an old # 3 blade in the saw. Started cutting and it started to burn right away. Took the can and sprayed the wood and I could not believe what I saw.
The burning stopped. After cutting about 6 inches some very light burning came back. Remember that it was an old blade what should have gone in the trash bin.
Sure makes it a lot easier than using tape.
Hope to hear from others after they try it.

Mike sounds like a great idea. Question I have is wouldn't the silicone in the spray affect the finish you would be putting on the wood?

I sprayed it on the wood just to try it. I would spray it on top of the pattern when cutting.
One more thing I found out. I like to use very little glue on the pattern. The pattern will come lose on some spots. When I use tape and the pattern comes lose, I put my finger on the tape behind the blade, to hold the pattern down.
