  • So, What made you happy today

    Hi Folks
    What made yáll happy today.

Getting the glue and tape off my ornaments so I could finish them made me happy. Thanks for all the help in the thread "A question for Tony Ward".

BUT, finally receiving my order from Wildwood made me extremely happy today.

Sorry, small things can sometimes make me very happy.

Tell a man that and he'll think you're being patronising !

Having lowered the tone of a thread yet again, let me say how pleased I am that your order's turned up. Now, get to work...

I've been having problems with the electrickery supply to my workshop so I'm waiting for the happy day when I can get hold of a friendly wiggly amp trainer to fix it. But that's about future happiness.

Today's happiness was a simple waltz around the kitchen with His Lordship this evening while Andy Williams crooned Moon River in the background.

I was just thrilled when the electricity came on!! We had a big storm go through last night and the lights went out around midnight. Came back on just after I left to buy dinner.

              Happy

Well......I went on-line and applied for Social Security benefits. I really expected a lot of "red tape" and bureaucratic hassle. As it turned out it was super simple and they called me this morning to let me know everything was in order and my benefits will begin in November. THAT MADE ME HAPPY!!!

I got up this morning and checked out the obituaries in the newspaper and couldn't find my name anywhere.
                That made me real happy

                  Happiness takes on many forms

                  Gill,

At first, when I started reading your post, I was wondering what got your mind in the gutter.

Then I saw the comment on the waltz around the kitchen, and realized it wasn't in the gutter: it was in a satin sheeted canopied bed with candle light and a big window overlooking the moon reflecting on the ocean's rhythmic surf with soft romantic music in the background reminding you of a wonderful evening spent in a ballroom in good company.

                  Marsha

My daughter left last night to meet her boyfriend in Paris, and called VERY early (for us) to let us know she had arrived safely. She will be gone for two and a half months including spending a couple of weeks in Brussels meeting his family: He is Spanish, born in Belgium studying computer graphic arts in Paris France.

My wife says he may pop the big question while she is there. He knows about her illness (Severe form of Crohn's disease) and accepts her as is. He has come to visit her here in Quebec a couple of months ago, and I got to meet him. He is extremely good looking, smart and has artistic talent (Hmmm.... maybe I can get him interested in designing patterns in the future???). He truly is the first one I approve of in her choice of boyfriends, and hopefully they will end up together for a long time. For now they are both very much in love according to what they say.

And my kids being happy, that makes me happy any day

                  Regards,
                  Marcel

                    Gill,
Waltzing to Moon River, with your special someone, how romantic. The oldies bring back such sweet memories.

I'm glad the electricity came on, and hopefully the air conditioner, cause it's sure been warm. Of course if you were planning dinner by candlelight, maybe the electricity spoiled your evening.

                    Good luck with your intarsia

                    Neal,
It's nice they're giving you social security, but don't you have to be 65! You don't look aday over 50.

                    Bill
Thank goodness you weren't in the obituaries, cause everyday above ground IS a good day.

                    Marcel,
It's great that your daughter has found the love of her life, and you approve, what a bonus.

Looks like we all had a good day

The Pussycat Dolls recently released a cover version of "Sway" to accompany the Richard Gere Movie "Shall We Dance?" (which really is a must see - even for non-dancers). The youngsters over on this side of the Pond were so impressed that they've reverted to the Dean Martin original for cha-cha-cha! Ray Charles' original "Hit The Road Jack" is also popular amongst jivers. But the real strength on the Ballroom scene right now is Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" which is a great merengue/salsa and is actually number one in the hit parade!

The old ways of dancing seem to be making a comeback, and it's great to see.

Gill (with apologies for another little off-topic diversion )

You don't have to agree with me but please just listen-

You don't have to read this if you are going to try to pull me down- You can't --don't even try - but today I woke up in my own bed on my own and actually was happy that I can still scroll. I know it sounds funny to most but please let me explain. As most of you know I am a very ill person - yes I am home bound on machines - alone ( except for you guys) - Oh I have a son who takes care of me and a 85 year old mom who thinks I am still 5 ( I am almost 58 --ugh. I do live alone tho. But I have a lot of health problems and a week ago I was Put into a morphine induced coma for 3 days while they tried to keep me above ground level -- again .... I have to admit I did enjoy the three day sleep .8ut I found my inner piece those three days and for the first time in a very long time I was and still am very happy and very lucky Lucky to have my doctors and my friends that for some silly reason know I am nuts but love me anyway. Okay so I am rambling on--but once again reading the post tonight made me realize tonight --- I think you guys are Super !!!!!!!!

Without the complete schematic it is hard to know what is correct.
That said, it is a multispeed blower that obviously has a controller board. That board varies the power to the motor. By doing what you did you bypassed that. You put power across the low and high windings. If any thing connecting...

If he connected to red and black and the motor spun wouldn't that indicate the motor is grounded? Without connecting the white the circuit isn't complete and the motor should not spin.

The reason for the smoke is incorrect wiring, posible melted insulation between motor windings and motor frame.

You mentioned connecting power to the red & and black wire. Did you do anything with White wire? Per the lable on the motor the black wire is high the Red is low. White common...
