Even better, Sweden drew! Now all we've got to do is beat Trinidad in the next match to qualify for the next round.

The game itself wasn't very good, but fortunately, the Paraguayans helped us out by putting the ball in the back of their own net. England will have to play much better if they're going to enjoy much success in this competition.

I'll be rooting for the Americans and the Aussies tomorrow .

Gill, do you get all 3 points if your opponent scores for you?

          Hhrump! ... a win is a win .

The Socceroos did us proud this afternoon by coming from behind to beat the Japanese 3-1. Well done Australia !

At the time of writing, things are looking bleak for the US . 2-0 down to the Czechs at half-time and Italy yet to come...

            Spain Wins Big Victory

Our friend Pedro's team, Spain, wins big game in World's Cup over Ukraine

            Well done.

To be honest, after reading some Web pages, I really thought Spain would be going down like the USA team did. Per this one sports reporter, Ukraine is as good a team as Italy (which the USA is up against next.) But to put up a 4-0 Win by Spain? WOW.

I didn't see the match but I'm pleased Spain won; they seem to be one of football's perpetual under-achievers and I'd love to see them enjoy success.

England play Trinidad & Tobago tomorrow. Guess what this daftie's done? A couple of months ago I booked tickets for a very good Fleetwood Mac tribute band and arranged for my female friends to make a day of it . So we'll be having a barbecue*, then off to the theatre, then back for some (more) wine before crashing out. There's no way I'll get to watch the footy! At least the match isn't going to decide England's fate... the game against Sweden on Tuesday will do that.

Unfortunately, Tuesday night is when we have our dancing lessons and the instructor has scheduled some new techniques for us! I think it'll be a case of setting the video recorder and trying to avoid hearing the score until we get home.

              *Hmmmm..... barbecue. I reckon it's time I started a new off-topic thread .

I love Tusk too, but even Fleetwood Mac won't play it live any more . I understand you need a complete drum band to achieve the sound they get on the recording. That said, I do have a live video of the track when they brought a drum band onto the stage. It looked spectacular! I wish I'd been at that concert.
