Bolivian Rosewood
I was making a handle for one of the carving knives I made over the weekend and discovered that Bolivian Rosewood is harder than $9 worth of jawbreakers! Here is a tip that may save you some elbowgrease. Band saw the handle to near net shape, finsh shaping on a belt or drum sander, smooth with 120 grit and get the final shape, then polish it with a fine Scotchbrite wheel! After a few minutes on the Scotchbrite wheel, I had a glass-like finish. A dab of tung oil and the handle was done and very attractive.

Reply to Stack CuttingI had considered useing a hot glue gun but I like to be able to reuse some of the bigger waste pieces. Also when I use brads and they extend through the bottom piece I am always carefull to take a small hammer and tap the points back up flush with the bottom piece so I do not scratch the table.
